CD Girls’ Soccer Looks To Continue Success In Districts, States

By Camryn Karnash

Central Dauphin girls soccer got off to a hot start to their season, battling local rivals and completing a push for the district playoffs. With a record of 15-3, the girls are excited about their prospects for the future.

Molly Platt, a junior varsity starter had a few words to say about the season so far. She stated “I think this season is going well. We’re working hard, only have 3 losses and we’re excited for what the rest of the season has to bring.”

With the season over and the playoffs beginning, the girls are expecting to perform even better with everything on the line.

Cassy Baker, returning goalie from last year stated, “This season has been going well for us. I think we’re a little upset by our losses after how great our season was last year, but because of that we want to do even better in districts so we don’t know that feeling again. Our mental game is really going to affect us in this post-season and I feel that we are a lot stronger mentally than we were last year.”

Julia Belfonti, a varsity starter, had a lot to say about the team this year. She said, “Last year we were Mid-Penn champions. This year we are looking to go back to Mid-Penns again for a back to back championship. We started off the season strong, winning like we did last year. We were on track to see Mid-Penns. Due to our losses to CV twice we unfortunately are unable to make it back to Mid-Penns this year but we are still finishing out the season with wins.

Despite not being able to get the chance to be Mid-Penn Champions again we will have our chance to show how good we are in districts. In districts we are hoping to go further this year than we did last year. We hope to make it to states.”

All the girls get along very well on and off the field, which creates a chemistry that every team hopes for. Central Dauphin is ranked 2nd in the league and looks forward to working their way up the postseason ranks.

Each girl plays their role to bring the team to its victories. They work hard and do what needs to be done to get a win, and take every opportunity available to score.

They take their losses into consideration to work even harder towards their opponents, especially ones they have lost to. Central Dauphin Girls Soccer dedicates their time to playing the game they love.
